Bopp Tape Opp Tape Slitter Rewinder

1 min read

A BOPP tape slitter rewinder is a machine used to convert large "jumbo" rolls of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) adhesive tape into smaller rolls of finished product. The terms "BOPP tape" and "OPP tape" are often used interchangeably to refer to the same product: pressure-sensitive packaging tape.

Machine operates on the principles of unwinding, slitting, and rewinding to transform bulk material into consumer-ready rolls.

Unwinding: A large "mother" or "jumbo" roll of BOPP tape is loaded onto an unwind stand. A tension control system, often using a magnetic powder brake, ensures a stable and accurate unwind tension.

Slitting: As the tape unwinds, it passes through a slitting section with a set of sharp, adjustable blades. Common blade type is razor blades. These blades precisely cut the wide roll into several narrower strips of tape, all at the same time.

Rewinding: The newly cut, narrower strips of tape are then individually wound onto smaller paper or plastic cores. High-efficiency machines often use an automatic four-shaft turret system that allows two shafts to rewind while the other two load and unload cores, minimizing downtime.
